Some editors and forms want PNG files. Converting keeps every pixel of your JPG, though the PNG will usually be larger.

Why the PNG is bigger
JPG throws away detail the eye barely sees; PNG keeps everything. Converting cannot bring back detail the JPG already lost, so the picture looks the same, in a bigger file.
Questions people ask
Will converting improve quality?
No. The PNG is an exact copy of what the JPG shows. It is useful when an app or form needs the PNG format.
Can I limit the PNG size?
Yes. Choose Max size in Settings; the tool then reduces colours carefully until it fits.
